Pittsburgh Filmmakers Announces
Senior Photography Show
(PITTSBURGH, PA) - Pittsburgh Filmmakers announces a group photography show featuring the work of six 2006 graduates of the BFA photography program. The show is on view from July14 through August 13, 2006. A reception will be held on Friday evening, July 21 from7:00 to 9:00pm. It is free and open to the public.

The show features an eclectic mix of styles from the following artists:

Kellie Dessauer - Tryptich of family portraits, both inside and outside of the subjects’ comfort zones.

Holly Amanda Lees – Color documentary photos of the reclamation of the land (near Johnstown) destroyed by acid mine drainage, showing both the devastation and renewal of the landscape.

Emily Patterson - Detailed, large format, color industrial/residential landscapes showing the close proximity of industry to family dwellings.

Jessie Shoemaker - Color photographs exploring subtle details in nature, specifically the Pennsylvania woodlands.

Abby Somerville – Highly imaginative, abstract images made with a scanner and a palette of Photoshop tools.

Emily Sylanski – Color, non-traditional "studio" nudes, disregarding traditional rules of lighting and portraiture.

The BFA in Photography is offered through a cooperative arrangement with Pittsburgh Filmmakers and Point Park University. It is the only undergraduate Fine Arts degree in Photography offered in the Pittsburgh area.

Associate professor Sue Abramson, head of the Photography Program at Pittsburgh Filmmakers, is especially proud to see the accomplishments of her students. “The combined vision of these recent graduates,” she explains, “encompasses the best aspects of photographic art; beauty, ambiguity, a sense of wonder and humor.”

Filmmakers Galleries are located at 477 Melwood Avenue, North Oakland. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, noon to 5:00, and during film screenings. Free and open to the public. For more information call 412-681-5449, or visit: www.pghfilmmakers.org
