PCA/PF Announces New Media Section at PCA Shop

To Coincide with 2008 Biennial

(Pittsburgh, PA) The 2008 Biennial exhibit (continuing through August 24) at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts/Pittsburgh Filmmakers exemplifies the continuum of visual arts – from still to moving images, with converging disciplines. With that in mind, a new component – a Media Section – at the Shop at PCA is set to premiere during the 2008 Biennial.

For the first time, the Shop is featuring an array of work by southwestern PA media artists – everything from films on DVD by local filmmakers, to CDs by local musicians, to hand-crafted vinyl LPs, books and “zines” will fill the new section.

Jen Carter, PCA Shop manager, explains that the inclusion of media artists represents a “dovetailing of the two organizations,” which merged two years ago becoming PF/PCA. And, “it furthers the mission of the Shop, which is meant to be a platform and venue for all artists in the region to promote and sell their work.”
