Armand Wright and David Grim at Filmmakers Galleries

(Pittsburgh, PA) – Filmmakers Galleries presents two new shows for Summer 2007, both on view from July 27 through September 2. Enduring Hearts is a digital photography series by Pittsburgh artist Armand Wright. Running concurrently in the outer gallery is We Will Dance Again, recent photo work by Pittsburgh artist David Grim. An opening reception will be held on Friday, August 3 from 7:00 - 9:00pm. It is free and open to the public.

Enduring Hearts is comprised of 36 portraits taken of the honorees at the Lemington Community Services Senior CenterÕs annual spring luncheon, which honored elders aged 90 or more who are volunteers or clients of the senior center. The still images were taken on May 13, 2006. A twenty-minute video, featuring interviews with seven of the 36 subjects of the portraits, that Wright and his wife directed, will be screened as part of the exhibition and introduced by Wright at the August 3rd opening.

Armand Wright is a native of PittsburghÕs Hill District. He spent several years in San Francisco and Washington, D.C., before returning to Pittsburgh nine years ago. He worked for many years as an in-house photographer for the IBM Design Center in San Jose, CA.

The Enduring Hearts series of black and white portraits were shot in color, manipulated digitally, then printed in black-and-white. Mr. Wright is an access member of Pittsburgh Filmmakers, which acted as the conduit non-profit agency for several grants made to this photo project. Funders include The Pittsburgh Foundation, the Falk Foundation, and the University of Pittsburgh.

Running concurrently is We Will Dance Again, an exhibition of David GrimÕs images from Asbury Park, NJ. Grim is an artist focusing primarily on photography, drawing and collage. Born in Allentown, PA, he moved to the western PA to attend the University of Pittsburgh. Grim has exhibited and guest-curated at Digging Pitt Gallery in Pittsburgh.

Filmmakers Galleries are located at 477 Melwood Avenue, North Oakland. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, noon to 5:00, and during public film screenings. Free and open to the public. For more information call 412-681-5449, or visit: www.pghfilmmakers.org
