Filmmakers Announce Andrew
Johnson Video/Digital Exhibit
(Pittsburgh, PA)
– Filmmakers Galleries present a new site-specific digital exhibit by
Andrew Johnson, on view from January 18 through March 2, 2008. An opening
reception will be held on
Friday, January 18 at
5:30pm. It is free and open to the public.
In Pluck, an animated video loop offers an
invisible magician to cover and uncover human figures – a work that
explores injustice, endurance and sacrifice. A digital collage titled, And
Gazelles? And Gazelles,
functions as a ritualistic call and response. FOLD is a response to the crisis in
photography, representation, and world peace.
Trained in
sculpture, painting, and film, Johnson is a world traveler. He earned his MFA
at Carnegie Mellon University while serving as an artist-in-residence at the PA
Department of Corrections curating inmate art. He is currently an Assistant
Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon. His website is www.rootingfortheradical.com
