Three Rivers Film Festival Announces
Audience Favorite

(Pittsburgh, PA) — Movie lovers love a love story. Audiences voted for At Last as their favorite film in the 2005 Three Rivers Film Festival. Filmed in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina hit, it’s the story of a second chance at love. Based on real events inTom Anton’s life, the director traveled to Pittsburgh for the festival. He said he was amazed at how many people had a similar story to tell.

The winner of the "Audience Choice Award" receives two years of Web site hosting and domain name registration, compliments of pairNetworks, Inc.

Not far behind were two other independently-made narrative films, Filmic Achievement, a spoof of film school directed by former Pittsburgher Kevin Kerwin; and The Memsahib, the story of a woman’s search for her connection to two cultures. It was filmed in India, but the director, Kruti Majmudar, is from Pittsburgh and is a Pittsburgh Filmmakers’ alumna.

For all three of the top-ranked independent narrative films, the directors appeared in person and led lively question-and-answer sessions with the audiences.

The documentaries taking the prize for audience favorite at this year’s festival were Ballets Russes and Why We Fight.
