ABOUT BRICOLAGE
Making artful use of what's at hand, Bricolage uses the distinctive resources of the Pittsburgh region to create theatrical events that stimulate a heightened
sense of involvement for the audience.
What excites this company is the connection and interaction between seemingly disparate elements. "What's at hand" not only refers to existing sites within our city's changing landscape, but also to human and material resources, as well as salient political, cultural, historical and contemporary issues we encounter and react to each day. Whether a new approach to a classic text or in collaboration on new works, we seek out environments where these various components can resonate as one cohesive event, an encounter designed to arouse and amend. The goal of Bricolage is to connect "what's at hand," encourage artists to risk their creative necks together and to provide the audience a 'full-blooded' theatrical experience.
ABOUT PITTSBURGH FILMMAKERS
One of the largest and oldest independent media arts centers in the country, Pittsburgh Filmmakers was founded in 1971 to provide media-making tools to artists. We are a nonprofit corporation designed to encourage the creation and understanding of media for noncommercial artistic and literary purposes. To this end, Filmmakers offers a curriculum of courses in film, video, and photography to university and independent students in the Pittsburgh region. Filmmakers also exhibits the work of prominent photographers and filmmakers in its two galleries and three cinemas. Our Three Rivers Film Festival is the region's largest annual film event. A key component of Filmmakers’ mission is to provide equipment access and funding for independent media artists.
In January 2006, Pittsburgh Filmmakers merged with Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
